My 4 year old son attended his first indoor soccer class last night and LOVED it. Coach Craig is outstanding with managing the chaos of that many preschoolers and still teaching skills while making sure everyone has a good time. We came from a different youth soccer program that we were disappointed in the management of and Preschool Sports has met and exceeded our expectations.

A fun and educational opportunity for preschool and elementary school children to learn various sports, learn about team work and socialize within our community, Preschool Sports is terrific organization ran by the amazing Coach Craig Collins. As a mother of two daughters, one who's very athletically inclined and who's not so naturally gifted, I strongly recommend Preschool Sports to all parents of children in Avon Lake. My Takeaways from this AM:
-A safe inclusive environment
-Inclusion of engaged parents, they were so into every activity
-All players were authentically engaged (an obvious high degree of attention, interest, curiosity, interest and optimism)
-Each goal, skill, activity was clearly explained, modeled, supported and recognized
-Restating of the goal, skill, etc., was great
-So much genuine positivity from you and your assistants
-What I consider effective teaching was so obvious as you explained, modeled, taught, demonstrated each skill or activity
-Making contact with each participant re: instant feedback
-I call it circulating the room with purpose and intent
-Those kids know you and know you care
-You know them and know their skill levels
-I always look for evidence of pre, formative and summative assessments in the classroom
You provided those with the various activities
-Your timing on transitions was great, no down time, and great flow
-You know your participants, players, and I am certain could name those below, at, above skill level
-I was so impressed that every player had a ball
-Would love to see a little scrimmage and would like to return for another visit if that is ok
-I saw some, boys and girls that were so impressive already!!!
-As we know, the greatest indicator of success in the classroom is when all students are authentically engaged in the process as opposed to some just being compliant, retreating or even rebellious.
-Your students were really authentically engaged
-Your assistants were into it as well
-I would recommend videotaping a session some time
-I would recommend that during the rebounding drill, jumping, that the assistants hold the ball up for the students to try to reach it as the one assistant did as the kids move down the ladders
-I loved the free time when they moved from basket to basket shooting
-Truly hands on coaching

I have really enjoyed this multi-sport class with my young 3 year old!!!!! He is shy at first, but when he warms up, he has SUCH a great time! You can really tell Coach Craig loves what he does 🙂 We look forward to this class every week!

I just wanted to reach out and thank you for your kindness and patience today. My son Colin came to his first soccer class today. As I’m sure you could tell, his is on the autism spectrum and this was our first experience trying something like this with typical kids. It was a lot for him (and for me), but you guys are just amazing. He was clearly over stimulated, but you all let him be him and he had a blast. All day he has been saying “go to soccer!” and while it might be a lot of me chasing him around the gym, we are hoping to be able to keep coming. I can’t say enough not only about you, but about the young coaches who help out. If he is too distracting to the other kids please let me know and we will wait a while to come back. You have no idea how much it means to parents like us to see our little boy be just one of the kids. Thank you again.
